windows

This is my incomplete dining room.  This week we are having a designer come out and give ideas, measure and whatever else regarding what they see fit for this space of windows.  We need tall curtains to add privacy and to help with the temperature.

Just a bit of background, we have espresso cabinets throughout our house, the kitchen is cream cabinets with espresso wood floors.  The floors in this dining room are a creamy tile and the walls are a deep cream with white crown moulding.  I wish I could show you a dining room table but we haven't found one yet that we both can agree on.  I want round the hubs wants rectangle.

What are your thoughts or recommendations for this wall of windows?

  1. Wow, what stunning windows. I fit were me, whatever solution I went for would have to give me the option of opening up to let in lots of light when it was appropriate. Can't wait to see more pics and good luck with the dining table hunt!

  3. It would be pretty costly, but retrackable curtains , or something motorized. So you could open and shut. That looks like great light, but it can also add heat to the home to in summer, and if you on the second floor, is it a peep show at night?? LOL Good luck.

  5. We originally thought motorized would be the best option but I am thinking they are out of our budget. We'll have long sticks, or whatever they call em to open and close. It's great light but yes Hope, you hit the nail on the head, it's a peep show at night.. ;)

  6. I agree with retractable. My parents have similar windows and they have a nice valance built out over the top, but their style is French Country, so something like that might not go with every decor type. I agree, the light is lovely, but it's hot, hot hot! Can't wait to see what you do with it!

  8. There are treatments for the glass to deflect heat. There are like contact paper. For privacy, if you want to go higher than the doors, extend drapery to the bottom line of the arch. This would let light in, but give you privacy. There are a ton of options! Your designer should have fun with those windows!

From your inspiration pictures, I think a change of chandelier might be in store for you ;)

You can argue with your husband that round tables are more communal and that the circular line of the table will compliment the line of the arch and balance all the straight lines of the room.

  9. Great ideas, love me daily. Seriously. I never considered some of what you suggested. The designer came and went and I still fee unsure of what to do. I do agree on the chandelier, I've found a beautiful one but that will take some convincing due to price.
