The Finishing Touches

Here are the finishing touches for our home this Christmas.  I wanted to incorporate more color but ending up with mostly red, green, white and gold accents.  I posted here about a wreath I planned on making but ran out of time so I came up with the above. As for the bow on my front door wreath, I tried this online tutorial and still couldn't figure it out!  Any tips on bow making?
I hope you're having a great holiday friends!

The K Family

What do you think of the Kardashian Family Christmas card?  I like and I adore Chloe's dress.  The lil sis on the left is a bit Elvira to me but whatever.  Have you checked out Kourtney Kardashian's blog? It's filled with loads of eye candy.  Kourtney's style is very glam and leopard obsessed (a girl after my own heart) and I am liking her more these days.
Do you watch the Kardshians? I don't really but find it addictive once it catches my eye.

What are you up to this weekend?   Today my mom and I are working like Elves finishing our family Christmas cards to get them to the post office soon so they arrive pre christmas.
Enjoy your Saturday my friends!

The Royals

Seriously, aren't Prince William and Kate Middleton are an adorable couple?  And  how cozy do they look in this photograph by the famed Mario Testino?  I don't know about you but I am excited about their engagement and look forward to their spectacular wedding come April.  Are you excited about the Royal Wedding or could you care less?

It is rumored that Kate will be wearing British Wedding designer Bruce Oldfield.  While browsing his collection online of wedding gowns, I must say that I was underwhelmed.  I would assume he'd make a gown that would be appropriate for the future Queen of England but still.  What do you think?

Leave it to People Magazine to enlist some bridal fashion stars to sketch gowns for the bride to be.  My favorite is by Monique Lhuillier, isn't this gorgeous?

On to my family, this past weekend was a blast.  We ventured up to Lake Tahoe and skied the day away on Saturday.  Sunday was our Christmas with the hubs family.  This was the first year we did Secret Santa for the adults.  While it saved us money it wasn't as fun as I had hoped although I believe this will be the new trend.  Overall, we had such a great time, so much so, that me and the boys (Jake & Ryan) spent all day Monday recovering.  Today was busy, as I rushed to the mall and shopped the morning away.
Luckily Jake was at preschool so I only had Ryan with me.

My family starts arriving this Friday morning for Christmas so it is a hectic week.
How are you all managing the chaos?

Holiday Gift Guide for Her

Kate Spade hits the mark with these colorfully chic sunglasses.  Anthropologie adds another visually stunning book to their collection, Fashion Illustration.  Paper Source's annual wall art calendar is simply adorable.  Suzanne Kasler's Inspired Interiors are truly inspirational.  These Hunter boots are classic and a must have for braving the wet months ahead.  Lululemon's backpack is fun and functional and appears to be sold out already!  SheyB makes the most stylish and adorable camera strap covers around.  This Ella Moss faux fur vest is urban chic.  Town & Country is society and luxury combined making it a must read for me.  The Kate Spade 2011 desktop calendar is the perfect accessory for any fashionista's desk.  The Ultra Chi ceramic flat iron transforms frizzy hair to sleek.  Furbish, an interior lovers dream shop does not disappointment with the Zig Zag Pinched Tray.  My go to fragrance is Stella McCartney's Eau de Parfum, a perfect blend of rose and amber.  Victoria's Secret pajamas are soft, comfy and a must for keeping warm this fall.  I am dreaming of the Tory Burch leopard print Reva flats.  The Gap is back and more stylish than before, don't believe me, than I'll let this sequin tote speak for itself.

Happy Shopping my friends.  My internet has been down the last two days so I couldn't post until now, sorry.  I hope to catch up on all of my posts intended for this week into the weekend.
Have a great weekend and see you back here soon!  CHEERS!

Celebrate good times

Whew, what a weekend.  Friday was a blast.  We laughed, cried, drank the best wine (thanks AJ) and played the longest game of 10 penny ever (our family favorite card game). Bed time was early morning.  Saturday was hectic as I was gently nudging our guests out the door as well as the hubs so I could set up for his Saturday afternoon surprise party.  The hubs caught on as one of our good friends passed him on the street on his way out to his hair appointment.  Thankfully he was gracious and still played along.  The suprise party was a SUCCESS and the hubs felt so special!  Following the party we went to dinner with our good friends and the hubs lil sis (thanks Kathy for braving the snow storm).  Kids weren't in bed until 11pm.  Long day for all.  Sunday was the hubs actual birthday.  We were pooped.  The hubs sleep until 10:30 am.  Lucky guy.  Ate cinammon rolls brought by his best bud (thanks Spencer).  Presents were opened, the boys thought they were for them, funny.  The hubs got three framed pics for his office, one of us, and one of each of the boys.  The big gift apple tv. The hubs loves it.  You can stream your itunes library on your tv, watch your shows, movies, listen to your music, cool stuff.  The rest of the day was spent eating and shopping.  Maybe next week we can put our feet up.  Didn't take pictures for most of the weekend.  Having to much fun and forgot.  Now typing along and listening to the coolest rain storm.  Do you love the rain, storms?

While blogging tonight I ran into The Girls with Glasses Show.  They seem fun and as a wearer of glasses and contacts I thought I'd give them a listen/watch.

You are loved - Happy Holidays

The Girls with Glasses Show - Theme Song

Catchy tunes.  I think I am a fan.  Up this week on the Dish, holiday gift guide and the giveaway I told you about weeks ago, sorry friends for the delay.  By the way, how was your weekend?

Celebrate

Today I am looking forward to...
our weekend,
our many house guests
cleaning the house today until seconds before our guests arrive
lots of laughter
lots of cheer
cousins playing together
enjoying a good game of cards
time with my boys
time with my husband
most importantly, celebrating my husband
this weekend he turns 39
the last two days have been scary
husband was in the hospital
but now is out
so it's time to rejoice
be thankful
and enjoy life.

Have a great weekend friends.

the glamourous glamourai

I know this blog has been around awhile but it's new to me so I am officially obsessed.  Have you discovered Kelly the uniquely stylish lady of the glamourai blog?  Her style is vintage, beautiful and inspiring.  Professionally she is a stylist as well as jewelry designer, oh and blogger.  She is so good that she designed her perfect handbag for a line of Coach Collectibles.

Need I show more?  Stop by here, here and here to see more of the fab looks of the glamourai.

Tomorrow it's back to Christmas decor galore...
How about a peek into what we've been working on around the house.

Christmas Decor

Are you already decorating for Christmas?  I am and my goodness it takes a lot of effort.  As of last night, we completed our Christmas tree and some of the front yard.  Now I am trying to focus on the rest of the house.  Since we need a new wreath for the front door, I headed over to Michaels today and was overwhelmed with choices.  After 30 minutes of indecisiveness over what to do to my wreath the boys and I headed home so they could nap and I could research wreaths online to get a clear picture of what I wanted.  Here are a few wreaths that I am loving as well as THE ONE I will do my best to copy.

What I love most about all of these wreaths is that they are great for displaying inside or outside of your home.  If you are interested in doing these DIY style each wreath has a HOW TO on the Martha Stewart site here.

Effortless it is

I don't know about you but I have been a big fan of Camila over at High-Heeled Foot in the Door blog for quite some time.  Since she is officially in the door of the design world she has launched her new blog Effortless Style .  I have been giddy with excitement over her move and simply adore the new blog design... How cute is this?

It just so happens that her Effortless Style Blog is also the name of her Interior Decorating Business Effortless Style Interiors found here.

Camila's designs are fun and colorful and she is an amazing DIYer.  Just today she posted about adding trim to her plain white ikea curtains. She took blah curtains and transformed them to fab with this colorful orange trim.

 Congrats Camila!

Thanksgiving Attire

Have you decided yet what you are wearing for Thanksgiving?  I have so I thought it'd be fun to share it with you.  Usually I don't plan outfits in advance but this year I took the plunge and planned it.  Do you dress up for the holidays or keep it casual?

Vintage

Lately I have been searching the web for inspiration and art is where I am finding it.  And until yesterday, I was unaware that Gilt offered art on their site too.  Yay!  I am in love with these Vintage Fashion Sketches by a Florida-based artist.  The sketches are digitally produced using archival links from outfits circa the '60s and '70s courtesy of some of the world's leading fashion houses, Chanel, Dior and Givenchy to name a few.  Aren't they gorgeous?  My walls are screaming for them.
What's inspiring you lately?

It's on

Are you in a shopping frenzy yet?  I am, a little.  Although I keep finding things for myself and buying them instead of for my family.  So far, I have bought boots, boots and then some boots.  Okay, maybe not that many but for now enough.  On the clothes front, I have grabbed a few goodies but still have a few more pieces I am in search of.  Now for the family, Jake has one christmas gift, my mom has some stocking stuffers (please don't let the kids read this).  It's clear, I have a LONG way to go.  Luckily, I'll be waking up earlier than any person should and braving the longest lines I've ever seen (aside from those at Disneyland) and participating in Black Friday?  Do you shop on Black Friday?  I do it mostly to bond with my sis in law although this year I am going prepared at least I hope too.

Back to boots, here are a few of my new favorites....

Deals today
Target - buy one boot and get a second 1/2 off.
Nordstrom - It's the Women and Kids half-yearly sale which means some good deals.
Payless shoes - Buy one and get 1/2 off everything. Need I say more.

Black Friday
Express - everything 40% off before 12 noon, after noon 30% off on Thursday only.
(excludes clearance items)
Toys r us - some items up to 50% off
Target - some items up to 50% off

(all black friday deals found via)

Any deals out there you wanna share???
