fill in the blank

It's fill in the blank friday at Lauren's blog,  make sure to link up and enjoy the fun. This friday is movies.... My favorite subject aside from celebrity gossip, kidding, sort of! Enjoy!

1.  My Favorite Movie of All Time is Contact.  This movie sucks me in every time it's on the TV.  I don't own it which is odd but I love it.  The Thomas Crown Affair is a close second.

2.  My Favorite Movie as a Child is The Little Mermaid, the original, not the disney version.  Whenever I was sick my mom would rent this for me so I could watch it while I nibbled on my orange sherbert ice cream.  It was comforting to me.

3.  The Best Movie Quote Ever is The entire Airplane movie has the funniest quotes.
Ted Striker:  My orders cam through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.
Elaine Dickinson: When will you be back?
Ted Striker: I can't tell you that. It's classified.

4. My Favorite Movie Actress is Reese Witherspoon, I love all of her movies which means I am a sucker for a good romantic comedy.  My Favorite Actor is Tom Cruise, he kick's butt in his Mission Impossible series and I LOVE it... Oh, and he was good in Top Gun too.

5. The Movie I Could Watch Over and Over is You've Got Mail, Working Girl, When Harry Met Sally, P.S. I love you, Pretty in Pink, Practical Magic & Sweet Home Alabama.  I am sorry but picking one wasn't an option for me.

6.  My Favorite Movie Genre:  Romantic Comedy, I love love and I love to laugh.

7.  A Movie I'd like to Watch This Weekend is The Blind Side.  Sandra Bullock is one of my favorite actresses and since she won an oscar for this I figure it's a winner.

a lazy day

This weekend I want to grab my bike and this adorable Kate Spade picnic basket and head to the park.  My boys and I will indulge in crackers topped with yummy cheeses and some dark chocolate while sipping pink lemonade.
After our yummy snacks we'll go fly a kite or two and run around enjoying the sunny spring day.
What are your weekend plans?  Any lazy days ahead?

too cool

I keep searching online for the perfect bedding for our guest room and sadly, I still haven't found it... While searching, I stumbled upon this cool & modern baby bedding line, OILO, which I found here.  What do you think?  Are you more modern or traditional with baby bedding/rooms?  Normally, I go traditional, but I am wavering.
If we have more babies one day, I might be spotted going modern on their room.
I love the first picture with the green bedding, shade, everything really!  As I like to say, it's perfection, at least in my eyes....

the good life

In my previous life, I am a licensed Real Estate Agent.  Fortunately, I haven't lost my love of home shopping.  My big sis, Gracie, lives in Chicago, Illinois and if I had my pick of homes, I'd choose this stunner.  It's close by to my sis {it's on the same street}, in Lincoln Park with close access to the downtown.  It's a hefty pricetag but since this isn't my real life, cost isn't a issue.
Want to know more about this beauty, contact Timothy Salm of Sudler Sotheby's International Realty at 312.943.1980.

one thing ends and another begins

Jake's soccer season is over.  He had a blast playing and meeting his new little friends. Jake learned so many things from dribbling the soccer ball to making a goal.. The last photo is of their final practice where they held a scrimage game.  As you can see it was intense and full of action.

In other news, we've been doing a lot of this.....

Hanging out, at home in the front yard and at the park.  Our boys love being outside so as long as the weather allows us, that's where we'll be.  This last photo is of Jake teaching Ryan how to ride the bike, it was the sweetest thing ever!!

Last week, I took some time off to tend to the guy on the left, my hubs.
Eric had his first chemotherapy treatment and it was a long 48 hours. He made it through and I am so proud of him and his strength.

Earth Day & other stuff

Happy Earth Day

What are you doing to celebrate Earth Day today?
Our family works on the following everyday to help our Earth .

1.  Recycle - all cans, plastic, paper, glass

2.  Reuse - grocery bags, clothes and cardboard

3.  Reduce - the hubs just replaced our light bulbs with energy efficient ones.
We recently purchased an energy efficient dishwasher,
as well as energy efficient washer and dryer

4.  We planted 4 new plants this past weekend and plan on planting even more plus a few trees.

5.  I am currently replacing all of my cleaning products with eco- friendly ones.
The only product I am having trouble changing is my Tide.
Any thoughts on eco-friendly laundry detergent that is as good as Tide?

6.  Food - buying organic food and from local farmers markets.

Does this cake looks yummy or what?
I am thinking that I'll make it for Ryan's 2nd Birthday in June.
Therefore, I am on a mission....
I want to take the ingredients for the Rainbow Cake found here and
replace them with healthier alternatives..
Any suggestions are welcomed and I'll let you know what I use to switch up this recipe.

Why??
First, the hubs has Cancer and we are revamping our kitchen to make it Cancer friendly..

What does Cancer friendly mean?
No sugar, no processed foods, basically yummy foods that lessen the impact of side effects from chemotherapy, improve his appetite and immunity as well as overcome changes in his sense of taste.

Second, our kids eat too many processed foods these days and I want to make everything they eat as healthy for them as possible.

Do you have any yummy yet healthy recipes that you'd want to share here on A Spoonful of Dish? If that is a yes, then email me at aspoonfulofdish{at}blogspot{dot}com.
