a new day

Has your life been touched by Cancer? On February 22nd, mine was. My amazing husband and father to our adorable little boys was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma: Cancer of the small intestine.  I had mentioned that the hubs had been sick but little did we know how serious.
Since Eric's diagnosis life has been a whirlwind. Eric was referred by his Gastroenterologist to an Oncologist then to a Surgical Oncologist within two days.  Day three we met the surgeon who upon reviewing Eric's CTscan wanted to admit him to the hospital immediately for surgery.  We told him we needed to go home, get things settled, take care of our boys and could be back early the next morning. So on Thursday, February 26th at 10:30 am my husband was wheeled into surgery.  Eric's amazing doctors say they got it all which is a blessing, since he could no longer eat or drink prior to surgery due to the tumor blocking a part in his small intestine.
It has been a hard road, for Eric, my sons, myself and our family and friends.  Everyone rallied and friends came as far as New York to visit the hubs. He is loved by many.
This past friday we returned home from the hospital after 8 long but successful days of recovery. My husband received the best care by the top doctors and nurses in this field and we are forever indebted to them for their kindness, patience and amazing care.
We have months ahead before this battle has been won but we prey that we it will continue to make Eric stronger, we as a family stronger and remind us what is most important in life, each other.
I'll be back when my life gets into more of it's normal routine.
For now, we are spending as much time as we can as a family, enjoying the simple things.
