Closet love

Today I had my inspiration board for my guest room post all ready (I'll post it next week) and then I saw these beauties, I mean closets.  The photos are by Douglas Friedman who has photographed countless celebrities, homes, architecture and ad campaigns.  When I saw Christina Aguilara's closet I was in love. It is so glam and fabulous and gigantic. Her closet is as big as houses in the city.  Fergie's isn't bad either; her black chandelier is so chic and glam (there I go again) that I was again in love.  The last closet (not sure whose it is) has so many Berkin bags I was a wee bit jealous.  I dream of owning a Berkin and would be tickled to have one.  What does your closet look like?  Is it glam, girlie, or practical?

Ashley Greene is the New Face of Mark and I can see why with these photos from InStyle.  The Twilight Saga has brought her into the spotlight and I think she will be around for awhile with her gorgeous leading lady looks and grace.  What do you think?

Back to School - Boys

Now that Jake is in preschool I have been considering buying some back to school clothes for him.  Since it's hot here I have delayed buying anything because we still have two more months of warm weather.  This does not mean I have not be searching online for what I will buy once it starts to cool down.  Which brings me to the Gap, a staple in my boys wardrobe.  For me they have good quality clothes that are durable as well as affordable.  If you peak into Jake or Ryan's closets you will find that most of their pants and shorts are Gap as well as some shirts.  Although for their shirts I tend to shop at Polo or local boutiques because I adore cool kids shirts that are unique.

Design Crush [Caldwell Flake]

I am always in search of great designers. I love to be inspired by these talented folks and find ideas that I might be able to incorporate into my home and on a budget.  Recently I discovered a mother and daughter duo known as Caldwell Flake.  These two women are crazy good at what they do.  As I searched through their gallery of rooms I fell in love with so many that I knew I had to share them all with you.

beige & brown

Here it is, the beige and brown guest room and its on suite bathroom.  I know, there is A LOT of beige. Don't fret my friends because  I am in the process of transforming these spaces.  Next week I'll show you my inspiration board because I have loads of ideas.  Making decisions are not my strong point so maybe you can all help me decide what makes the cut.

My search online to find the perfect pink fabrics for my guest room has resulted in this yumminess. I feel closer to transforming my now cream and brown guestroom into a girly oasis where I will spend my free time blogging, crafting and sewing.

Last week was good, really good.  I got in loads of family time and took care of almost everything on my To Do's list.  The preschool social was a success and Jake had a great time.  I am reluctant to post a picture since all of them include Jake's classmates and I do not want to upset any parents.
My mini procedure was a success and I am heathy as a horse which is fantastic because I have been concerned as of late.  When I awoke Friday night after a full day's sleep (heaven),  I received some sad news that is still on my mind today.

My husband Eric has a best friend also named Eric. Eric has three kids whose youngest is an adorable little girl named Taylor.  On Friday evening, Taylor was diagnosed with Luekemia. By Saturday, she began her 1st day of Chemotherapy which she will repeat everyday for the next 6 months.  Taylor is 4 years old.  Everytime I think of Taylor and what she and her family will endure, I cry.
Marc is my husbands brother.  Marc's best friend from college has three boys, two who are twins and an adorable 3 year year old Ronan. Ronan was diagnosed with Brain Cancer this past week and had surgery this weekend.  Again when I think of what Ronan and his family will endure, I cry.
Please say a prayer for each of these families and their little babies, who are enduring more than any child should have to.  Thank you!

new beginnings

This is officially our last week of summer.  Why? My wee boy Jake (pictured below) starts preschool next week.  Tomorrow we have a preschool social that we are all looking forward to.  Jake will meet Miss Amy (his teacher) again as well as his classmates.  To say Jake is excited would be an understatement.  In addition to the preschool buzz filling our house this week we are also booked with doctors visits, dorm room design (a first for me), birthday parties, a grammar school reunion (compliments of facebook), and a going away to college party... 

Due to the above, I am on a mini break from The Dish.  

I will be back next week for our regularly scheduled programming.  :)

I lived in or around the Virginia area... Jenny at Little Green Notebook is having an AMAZING sale at the Arlington, VA Flea Market this Saturday.  Are any of you going?  If I was I would buy everything below, seriously! I heart it all.

Did you all watch The Bachelorette last night?  Last week I posted here, about how I thought Ali would pick Roberto and I was spot on.  Ali and Roberto seem genuinely happy so I am happy for them.  They mentioned that they found a home together in San Diego and that Roberto had already moved into it as well as moved his business nearby.  From the sounds of it, they are very serious.  I wish them much love and happiness.
